  History of

Sligo Swim and Lifesaving School

Sligo Swim and Lifesaving School was established in 1995 in Sligo town by Robert and Kathleen Cadman. at this stage in Sligo city the facilities available to institutions and parents for the teaching of swimming and skills in lifesaving were limited and none of the local schools (swimming schools) offered the opportunity to become a qualified lifeguard endorsed by any of the major organizations, e.g. R.L.S.S, I.L.S.S, within 6 years S.L.S.S. (Sligo swim and lifesaving school) had become the only school {northwest} capable of awarding any qualifications in these critical areas. every year since, the S.S.L.S. has awarded more life-saving medals than any other school in the R.O.I. considered by many of his colleagues to be one of the most effective tutors in his field, the founder and M.D. of S.S.L.S. john Robert Cadman t/a lifesaving, t/a lifeguarding, t/a open water, t/a life support, t/a special needs, etc; has dedicated his working life to the promotion awareness of water safety. At present S.S.L.S. is still the only school to offer this facility. Through intensive studies and application of techniques developed while competing for Northern Ireland at commonwealth level, Robert Cadman and his team of dedicated teachers have placed S.S.L.S at the cutting edge of swimming tuition and lifesaving techniques in Ireland.
